We have no brand affiliation or sales agenda — our goal is clarity. We review, test, and interpret compost bins objectively, using science-based analysis and clear consumer language.
Why do we exist?
Compost-Bins.co.uk was created because the UK gardening market lacks a neutral, data-driven source of compost bin advice. Many “reviews” online are brand-sponsored, incomplete, or outdated. Our mission is to bring clarity and trust back to one of gardening’s most confusing categories.
We focus on:
- Explaining how bins actually work.
- Helping consumers choose the right bin for their situation.
- Highlighting where sustainability claims and performance data deserve scrutiny.
Every guide and FAQ on this site is written with that neutrality in mind.
Tony Callaghan
Compost Innovator and Soil Health Steward
Tony has a passion for soil health and a track record of innovation in the soil industry. First inventing and patenting the HOTBIN Compost Bin in 2011, a revolutionary product for home gardeners that turns what could take 12-24 months down to just 12 weeks!
Following his success in composting, Tony started SoilFixer with the aim of allowing anyone to improve the health of their own soil with innovative new products such as SF60, a biochar-humus based soil improver, that when studied had shown a plant and crop growth improvement of over 100%!
As well as continuing research in innovative technology, Tony now provides help to novices and fellow garden enthusiasts alike with the aim of helping them to care for their plants and garden with confidence!
